Modelando de nuevo/ Modelling again
I am taking up again the modelling issue, but I'm not getting what I want, the figures are too serious and the idea is to do something lighter, I will take a suggestion that I received and add a bird or something to take out the seriousness.

Cerámica un lunes/ Pottery on Monday
This is the first time that I upload something about pottery on Monday, but I want to go to a Raku firing workshop so I need five medium pieces, so I throw two pieces trying to make use a new style, but I will add some texture when I trim them. It has been hard to me to try a new style but slowly I'm doing these new figures.

Algunas sorpresas/ Some surprises
While I was somehow disappointed with the old train station the site has some interesting surprises to photograph like this abandoned fire engine. As all these things in the future someone is going to regret having left to deteriorate it when it will be impossible to restore.
In any case this is an ongoing story and one by one the pieces are missed until nothing is recognizable.
The surprise continue, now the truck serves as a game place for this child which, of course, would like to be a fireman when he grow up, Who didn't.
And the companion to this kid's games is this puppy, now resting in the shade for a while. Time for a thought: Definitely the pace for the photography is walking and not just for photography, to know a place the speed is not greater than the simple steps of the walk, as the speed to get to know another person is talking. Otherwise the details pass along and everything is a blur.
Tren militar, estación El Canelo/ Military train, El Canelo station
I had been told that this old station of the Military train in El Canelo, Cajon del Maipo, is the best preserved. I expected something else but it really can be considered that it is well conserved in the sense that the building is still in use.
Today the building houses the Fire Department of El Canelo which is concerned on maintaining it.
Debo una explicación/ I owe an explanation
It is suposed that there should be uploaded some pictures on Pottery Thursday, but among the explanations about what we will do this year, prepare plates for the next week and throw two bowls I had no time to take photographs. As there is no entry without photos I uploaded this picture of my dining table which I haven´t used since a long time. And it has a lot to do with this, because the big project for this year is to make a complete tableware. On the other hand is worth a comment that since I started my classes I haven't bought any pottery piece because I think: Why? If I can do it all...........

Miercoles de cerámica/ Pottery Wednesday
I guess that this week will be dedicated to pottery photos as my classes start tomorrow. These photos are the yesterday's work. Now I realize that I never tell the size of the pieces, these is 16 cm. high by 8 cm. in diameter.
As always I continue the style of using textures in the base and I'm going to use a lighter glaze combined with a dark one at the top.
In this case I used textures and stamped reliefs on the top, as these small climbers taken from the Minoan bull I made.
Visitante invernal/ Winter visit

I've commented before that I like the phrase Mountain Road and despite being dizzy on heights I like traveling these roads. This Sunday I went to "Las Melosas" the inward continuation of the Maipo river.
The canyon of the river is surrounded by spectacular rock formations, and at the sides it opens to numerous smaller streams and sure this site deserves a much longer visit and more equipped.
This is a panoramic photo in almost 180 degrees, to the right is the south and north is to the left. I hadn't maps so today I discovered at Earthgoogle that this canyon goes southward to reach Maipo volcanoe at the same level of Rancagua.
Of course I took some B&W photos but I'm not very happy with the overall result of the shots.
And finally a more subjective photo as ever.

Viernes de cerámica/ Pottery friday
Yesterday my pottery classes started and I couldn't go though. I have dedicated this week to the topic anyway. Today I finished these pieces and now I'm letting dry. I believe this is becoming a style, the pieces with a textured recess and now applied to a bowl. I hope the bowl survive the drying without cracking since this kind of pieces are more difficult to dry evenly.
I could install two workbenches plus a shelf and is pretty comfortable, despite the fact that the potter's wheel is on the way, I should find another place for the final potter's wheel.

Retomando la cerámica/ Pottery again
After a long recess I took back the pottery work with these two pieces. On the piece on the right I use again the the technic of a recess and the application of textures and stamps. My studio is almost ready and there is no reason to don't start making pieces out of classes.
Algo de Diseño/ Something about design
I haven't upload anything of graphic design since some time, so here is a pattern work I made a few weeks ago.

Cisne de cuello negro/ Black-necked Swan
To complete the Sunday update these pictures of the Black-necked swans native of South America.
This swans are breeding in Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego and migrates north to Paraguay and southern Brazil. These swans are in an artificial pond in Santiago.
Fuera de foco/ Out of focus
Those who know me know that I am a perfectionist and who have seen this blog know that I try not to put photos out of focus, but seeing this picture I realized that there is no need to be focused, everything is there, the bee is a bee and it is doing his work, no doubt, the flowers are flowers, the sky is sky, the sun is shining. Being out of focus gives a different atmosphere and it works.
Domingo colorido/ Colorful Sunday
Today I went out to find a bit of color and I did it in these flowers.

Tren militar, estación San Alfonso/ Military train, Saint Alfonso station
Following the suggestion of my friend Ginger in England I decided to track what remains of the military railroad here in Cajón del Maipo. This is Saint Alfonso station. From the photographic point of view although the sun lit up from behind the photo exposure is good and with sufficient contrast.

Camino El Alfalfal/ El Alfalfal road
Today I went to this road, which skirts the Rio Colorado to see if a could go at the end of it and I find that to access to the second part it is necessary to ask permission, but at least the first part was quite interesting, as this rock formation.

Tierra Adentro/ Inland
Today I was shocked, in Chile there are very few good TV programs and one of the few of them is "Tierra Adentro", it can be translated as "Inland", a program that shows our more intimate and deeper country, the country where lives and works the real people. And the reason to be shocked was to know that the program ends and ends only for economic reasons. Knowing that millions are spent on empty, fatuous shows, and they can not spend money on such a program full of cultural content, this is outrageous and shameful. So today I am publishing a file photo from my travels to the Southern Highway and that somehow those are my own inland travels. The man in the photo is Don Osvaldo at Villa O'Higgins, a great friend. If someone wants to leave a comment to support for this program, do so here: Paul's Landon Blog Tierra Adentro

Diseño y escoba/ Broom and design
Since long time I want to upload a picture of a broom as they are made here in Chile, not as a craft work but rather a matter of design.
The issue is that this broom has not changed since I know it and the reason is very simple: Good design endures, and in this case, even keeping the original natural material. So good is this design are that it has been copied in plastic.
This staple has been always here, some materials change only to use what the crafter have by hand, in this case the tied is copper and the top is plastic and sometimes discarded tin cans has been used, but is always the same how all goes together.
* sorgo technicum
These ties in this case are plastic but always there are these curahuilla seeds* which sparrows like to eat until they are finished. And finally no one can deny that this is a beautiful object. I used the new lens to shoot these photos.

Día helado /Cold day
Today was not the first rainny day of but it was the first cold day and to comply with a daily entry here are these photos.

Nuevo lente, gatos/ New lens, cats
Again, using the lens with no accessories and keeping the sweet spot centered.
These photos are at the closest focusing range of the lens.
Poor kittens, they don't get to much food, so the more dominant immediately puts his foot to guard the food from his brother.
Nuevo lente, locomotora diesel/ New lens, diesel loco
During my visit to this train yesterday, I continued testing the lens, again, without accessories and the result is very interesting.
In this case there are two effects: the first gives the impression that this picture is a scale model and the second is the feeling that the train is in motion.
The lens have fixed focal lenght therefore we must work in the old way: walking towards the object. It has manual focus and the f aperture is fixed and it is changed through plates with various openings.
