Primavera en Santiago/ Spring time in Santiago
I took a long long walk today but I did not find nothing especially interesting for black and white so I am adding a bit of color again with some images of the spring here in Santiago.
A flower very common in the streets of Santiago is these plum blossoms that have accompanied to me by all the streets where I have lived and it definitively marks the arrival of the spring time here.

Antes y después/ Before and after
I know I am stepping on deep shit with these photos but I assume my own risk. The first one is a negative from approximately 30 years ago and the second one is from today. For obvious reasons there will be no public commentaries allowed to this entrie.

- 125 grams) unsalted butter, room temperature
- 1 cup sugar light brown
- 1 large egg
- 3/4 cup (105 grams) all purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 3 cups (260 grams) old-fashioned rolled oats
- 1 cup chocolate chips
Optional: - 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1 cup raisins
- 1 cup walnuts or pecans, toasted and chopped
In a bowl with a hand or electric mixer cream the butter and sugar until creamy and smooth. Add the egg and vanilla extract and beat to combine. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and ground cinnamon. Add the flour mixture to the creamed mixture and beat until incorporated. Stir in the nuts, oats, and chocolate chips or raisins. Make small balls and flatten them. Bake the cookies for about 12 - 15 minutes in a preheated oven at 350 degrees F,177 degrees C.

Domingo/ Sunday
Today I had decided to be a resting day, but there is a so wonderful sun that I could not avoid to take a walk with my camera and arrived at this church Los Dominicos where I took these photos. I also took a version in color but always I prefer for black and white.

Henry Cartier-Bresson
This photo was taken today in an exhibition of Christian Lacroix. This second photo from my files is more according his style and is the image of Saint Peter at the Creek of Chaitén that perhaps no longer exists due to the flood of the White River caused by the volcanic eruption. The photo captures a moment of rest, a moment of refuge, a moment of reflection.

Coincidencias/ Synchronicity
Those who know me know that a constant subject to me are the coincidences, synchronicity: I read, listen or see something on a subject and within a short time the same subject appears again, sometimes even in the lapse of seconds. It is something that happens to me very often. This Monday I uploaded a photo to the birthday of Marcela; yesterday on youtube I searched for the singer Joni Mitchell and the first video that I found was the Woodstock song and as it were realized based on photos I uploaded it yesterday. Today Marcela wrote me that watching the video she noticed that it had been born just the day after this concert finished and I without knowing it put both facts together again. So, I began to think about a photo to upload today to illustrate this subject. Finally, I choose this drawing from the ceramics pieces I am making because the spiral they have, it is not a normal spiral, which starts in the center, it is a continuous spiral that goes in and out without ever cutting.
It scares me sometime.

Comentando mi propio Blog/ Comments on my own Blog
I am so happy with the inclusion of music in my blog that I had to upload a second post today and this image illustrates the luminous state I am feeling about how this is taking form and already I am planning in a next attempt about putting together my own video with my own images.
Joni Mitchell, Woodstock
Today I am going to make a change every blog has though, I'm going to include a video from youtube, it is one of my favorite singers, Joni Mitchell, and when you see the video you will notice why it is included here where I always write about photography. It is of one of my favorite ages and a style of photography that I love, the seventies, and I'm going to try to reproduce. What can I do? one cannot go against its own nature.

Salsa de tomates/ Tomato sauce
Ingredientes:
- 3 cucharadas aceite de oliva
- 3 tomates pelados picados gruesos
- 1 cebolla mediana picada en cuadritos
- 2 dientes de ajos picados finos
- 1 zanahoria rallada
- 2 cucharadas de azúcar
- 3 hojas de laurel
- sal y pimienta
I said in advanced that I am going to add some recipes and this is a basic tomato sauce. Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 tomatos, peeled and diced
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, chopped
- 1 carrot, grated
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 3 bay leaves
- salt and pepper
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet, add onion and garlic, saute until it is transparent, I like to add a little sugar in this point. Add the grated carrot, saute again, a diced red bell pepper can be added. Add the tomatos, salt to taste, pepper just ground, sugar and bay leaves are added. Cover and simmer until the tomato is soften. The consistency of the sauce is regulated finishing the baking with the open or covered skillet. It is a basic sauce, olives, mushrooms can be added or what you like, I personally add a pinch red chilli flakes. As this is not a gourmet blog,so, the challenge here was to shoot the ingredients photography improvising in my kitchen.

Today's photo has a small change, it is not here in order to its photographic quality, is dedicated to Marcela the only faithful person to this blog at the moment. Yesterday there was no photo because a lack of inspiration and today I did not take photos because when I was going out with my camera someone told me that a worker was assaulted to rob his toolbox, such city we are living in. So Marcela, here is a kitten for you , to relax and to forget for awhile the reality and to dream about living in Rio Bueno, Osorno, Valdivia or more even far away. And it gives the idea to include here some recipes and photos of what I cook, as in a real blog.

Recuperando mi estudio/ My studio again
As I mentioned before I have been working on my studio and that would be subject for a photo and here it is. It seems a little work but I cleaned the space, I made two new stands. I am making a modular system with the tubes and everything is going to be arranged to be transported to locations. To much space and only to take small objects, there is to much work to do.
And this is what I get without great modifications, only diffuse light. 1/20 sec. at f 3,5 with 1000 watts of light is not to much. Next step is check the white balance and look for backgrounds.

Mi mano/ My hand
This is today's photo: my hand, I’m left handed so this is my useful hand. A tool, my father’s tool, originally for cut horseshoe nails or for a shoemaker, but used to take out nails from the wood, cut wire, take out wood chips, tight nuts and other hundred of uses. And a workbench, my grandfather’s workbench, full with scars and still in use as it must be. As usual there are much more behind an image, in this case: three generations.
