Monocromo/ Monochrome

Claro que en esta salida aproveché de llevar mi nuevo lente y seguir haciendo pruebas.
Of course I took my new lens with me to keep it testing.

Me sigue impresionando el resultado de los accesorios macro de este lente y me gustó mucho esta foto que siendo en color termina siendo igual monocromática al quedar solo en todos amarillos y cafe, debe ser la primera foto otoñal.

I'm still impressed by the outcome of the macro accessories of this lens and I liked this picture that being a color photo it ends up as monochromatic with al this yellow and brown shades, should be the first autumnal photo.

Esta otra foto me inspira como diseñador a dibujar una lámpara y mejor lo hago antes que alguien lo haga por mi.
This other photo inspires me as a designer to design a lamp and I better do it now before someone else do it.

Y ahora la infaltable foto blanco y negro, la versión en color quedaba muy confusa y asì la pequeña avispa se ve mejor.

And now the inevitable black and white photo , the color version was very confused and here the little wasp looks better.

De vuelta al negocio/ Back on busines

Hace dias que no publico nada en este blog y me tiene preocupado porque significa que no he tomado fotos nuevas y la idea de esto es mantenerme tomando fotos. Así que hoy me tomé u tiempo para salir un poco fuera de Santiago para tomar algunas fotos.

Hoy fué un día muy extraño, amaneció nublado y de pronto comenzó a caer una lluvia muy fuerte y aún estamos en verano. ¿El resultado? Esta imagen de cerros brumosos.


Me gustan estas imagenes de caminos sin autos y me gusta esta composición que hace que el camino gire dentro de la foto y lo haga irse por una esquina distinta. Porsupuesto me gusta que este satutada de girs y que sea en blanco y negro.

Reporte de flores/ Flower report

Desde hace tiempo que no hago mi reporte semanal de flores desde El Canelo, así que ahora una actualización.
Since a long time I didn't do my weekly report about flowers in my mountain cabin, so now an update.

Hay veces que un error da buenos resultados y queda archivado para usarlo más adelante, como en este caso que tomé la foto con el filtro para luz artificial lo que dió este lindo color azul.
There are times when a mistake leads to a success and is good to learn it for later use, as in this case I took the photo with the artificial light filter activated getting this pretty blue color.

Sigo probando mi lente nuevo y casi siempre con los accesorios macro. Al tomar este tipo de fotos y no tener punto de referencia se pierde el tamaño real de la flor, pero en este caso se alcanzan a ver dos hormigas bebiendo nectar detrás del centro de la flor.
I'm still testing my new lens and again, as almost always, with macro accessories. By taking such pictures there is no reference point to figure the actual size of the flower, but in this case you can see two ants drinking nectar behind the center of the flower.

Y esta es la flor entera, con hormigas transitando por todos lados.
And this is the entire flower with ants walking all over it.

Este es otro ejemplo de perdida de referancia, esta flor no mide más de tres milímetros y es practicamente una maleza que crece en la base de un macetero.
This is another example of no reference size, this flower does not measure more than three millimeters, and is practically a weed that grows on the basis of a flowerpot.

Exposición de textiles Lavkenches/ Lavkenche textil exibition

Hoy fuí a una exposición de textiles Mapuches de una asociación de tejedoras Lavkenches de Tirúa. Lo bonito es que me encontré con una compañera de colegio y aprovechamos de hablar de muchos temas y mejor aún saber que su hermana diseñadora asesora a estas personas.
Today I went to an exhibition of textiles Mapuches of an association of Lavkenches weavers at Tirua. It is nice that I met a classmate and we spend some talking about many subjects and even better knowing that her sister, a textile designer, advises these people.

Aproveché de seguir experimentando con mi nuevo lente.Tal como lo pensé el trabajo en terreno del lente es muy práctico pero siempre es necesario compensar la exposición.
I'm still experimenting with my new lens. I still think that the lens is very handy at field work but it is always necessary to compensate the exposure, it tends to underexpose the photo.

Todos los tejidos son teñidos con colorantes naturales obtenidos de plantas e incluso barro.

All the textiles are dyed with natural dyes made from plants and even mud.

Queque de zapallo italiano/ Zucchini cake

Mucha de mi última inspiración, recetas e ideas han surgido de este blog sobre diseño que vengo siguiendo hace tiempo: Design*Sponge. Much of my latest inspiration, recipes and ideas have emerged from this blog design which I have been following for a long time: Design*Sponge. Así que siguiendo el mencionado sitio hoy preparé esta receta para un queque de zapallitos italianos y manzanas. La verdad es que es absolutamente recomendable y es necesario probar ya que es muy difícil de describir el resultado.
So, from the above site I tried today this recipe for a zucchini and apple cake. The truth is that it is absolutely necessary and advisable to test as it is very difficult to describe the result.
A la vez de probar la receta esta es mi propia versión fotografica del resultado: La primera con el lente normal de la cámara y la segunda probando mi nuevo lente. No mucha gente se puede imaginar cuanto espacio se necesita para tomar una foto simple como esta, a menos que sea fotógrafo. Definitivemente no me voy a dedicar a este tipo de fotos profesionalmente.
At the same time this is my own version of the photo to the recipe: The first photo with the normal lens of the camera and the second testing my new lens. Not to much people can imagine how much room is needed to take a simple photo like this at a studio, unless you are a photographer. Definitely I'm not going to take this kind of photos as a profesional.

Locomotora a Vapor/ Live Steam Loco

Este es el progreso en mi proyecto de locomotora esta semana. Ya está practicamente operativa, probé el motor y funciona muy suavemente. Desgraciadamente a partir de la próxima semana ya no le voy a poder dedicar tanto tiempo.

This is the progress on my locomotive project this week. It is already operational, I tried the engine and it runs very smoothly. Unfortunately, the next week I can't spend to much time working on it.


Este es el video con la primera prueba del motor, en este caso con la tracción desconectad. La segunda prueba fué con la tracción conectada pero montada en bloques. Funciona muy bien.
This is a video with the first engine test, in this case with the traction off. The second test was with gear train connected, but mounted on blocks. It works very well.

Macro y flores/ Flowers and macro

Esta foto está tomada con el macro Olympus de la cámara, se logra una profundidad de campo más pareja pero se ve un tanto plana la imagen.
This photo was taken with the Olympus macro lens, ensures a more even depth of field but is a rather flat image.

El accesorio macro del nuevo lente con placa de diafragma por f4. La foto tiene mayor volumen.
The macro accessory of the new lens with diaphragm plate f4. This photo has a bigger 3D effect.

Esta foto es muy parecida a una anterior pero esta está tomada en El Canelo y definitivamente el fondo desenfocado actúa de marco para la parte central.

This photo is very similar to one earlier but this was taken at El Canelo and definitely the petals out of focus acts as a framework for the central part.

Por casualidad hoy en un comentario me están pidiendo una foto en blanco y negro y ayer tomé esta. Mientras la tomaba pensaba que la gente que hace efectos especiales para cine no debe ir muy lejos para imaginar cosas extrañas.

As a coincidence in a comment today someone ask me for a black and white photo and I took this one yesterday. While I was taking this photo I thought that people who do special effects for film should not go very far to imagine strange things.

Nuevo lente, macro/ New lens, macro

Sigo probando mi nuevo lente con los accesorios macro. Como tiene diafragma fijo es necesario en algunos casos compensar la exposición.
I'm still testing my new lens with the macro accesories. As it has fixed aperture it is necesary to compensate the light metering.

En todo caso algunas veces parece que no es conveniente ver muy en detalle ciertas criaturas.
In any case sometimes is better not to see some criatures with to much detail.

En otros es una maravilla poder apreciarlos.

And sometimes it is wonderful to see those details.

Locomotora a Vapor, caldera/ Live Steam Loco, boiler

Hoy seguí trabajando en mi locomotora de vapor vivo. La caldera está prácticamente lista. Al final del día dejo algo de tiempo para tomar estas fotos, ahora con otra iluminación para dar enfasis en el caracter técnico.

Today I continued working on this live steam locomotive. Boiler is almost ready. Of course at the end of the day I save some time to take these pictures, now with other ilumination, to give more emphasis on the technical issue.

Nuevo lente III/ New lens III

Todas las fotos anteriores de comida las hice improvisando en mi departamento un estudio, ahora estoy probando acá en el taller para seguir probando el lente.
All the earlier food photos were taken in my apartment, in an improvised studio, actually nothing like a real studio. Now I'm working here at the studio to continue testing the new lens.

Esta segunda foto es con un lente normal para ver la diferencia y queda claro que la decisión de cual lente usar es importante. En un primer pensamiento creo que el lente es mas útil en terreno para eliminar elementos que distraigan o para resaltar un solo punto de atención, en estudio quizás es mejor al lente normal. Tema aparte, en todo caso creo ya estar llegando a la iluminacion que me acomoda.

This second photo is with a normal lens to see the difference and it is clear that the decision of which lens to use is important. At first I thought that the lens is more useful in the field to eliminate elements that distract or to highlight one point of attention, perhaps it is better at studio the normal lens. As a separate issue I think I'm coming to the illumination that suits me.

Nuevo lente II/ New lens II

Hoy seguí experimentando con mi nuevo lente, pero aún no le dedico el tiempo necesario. En esta foto moví el punto de foco a la parte superior.
Today I kept experimenting with my new lens, but still I did not dedicate the necessary time. In this picture the focus was moved to the top.

Pero lo que quiero mostrar ahora es lo que comenté antes, a pesar de tener solo dos elementos ópticos tiene bastante buena resolución. Esta segunda imagen es un detalle de la primera.

But what I want to show now is what I commented before, despite having only two optical elements the resolution is quite good . This second image is a detail of the first.

Nuevo lente/ New lens

Ayer recibí el nuevo lente que encargué y recién hoy me di unos minutos para probar algunas fotos.
Yesterday I received the new lens that I ordered and just today I found a few minutes to try out some photos.


La verdad es que no le dediqué la atención necesaria a probar el lente pero en estas pocas pruebas me impresion la calidad óptica de un lente tan sencillo de dos elementos. En estos caso estoy usando las lentillas de aproximacion que encargué también.
The truth is I did not dedicate the necessary attention to test the lens but in these few tests I was impressed by the optical quality of the lens with only two elements. In this case I am using the macro accesories.

Y una prueba en blanco y negro como siempre. Espero mañana dejar de lado un rato el trabajo en el taller para probar más fotos.
And a black and white photo as always. Tomorrow I hope to put aside some time working in the workshop to test more photos.

Tomas nocturnas/ Night shooting

Aprovechando que voy a pasar unas noches fuera de mi casa hice unas tomas nocturnas. Nada especial pero algunos objetos cotidianos toman otro caracter sumado al efecto del blanco y negro la sensación es distinta.
Now, spending a few nights out of my house, I did some night shots. Nothing special but some common objects during the day take another character added to the effect of black and white the feeling is different.

Este grafitti ahora se despega de la pared y el personaje sale a caminar cuando no hay otros ojos que lo vean. Y ya se vió que los muertos se levantan de la tumba y comienzan a penar.
The graffiti is now off the wall and the character leaves to walk when there are no eyes to see it. And we saw that the dead rise from the grave and begin to mourn.

Domingo en la mañana/ Sunday morning

Primera hora de la mañana y mi gato huyendo de la limpieza de la casa., como un Grafield cualquiera En todo caso la luz es muy bonita.
First hour in the morning and my cat running away from the house cleaning, such a Garfield. A nice light anyway.
