El último pensamiento del año/ Last thought of the year.
Having uploaded the latest photos of this year it is time for a thought.
The year ends for us as humans, to the age of the universe it is worthless, but we do recalls and we get emotional. The year was not bad, and the projects are running through, a year of learning is ending and a productive one is starting, but easy, it will take its time.
I tried to accept the things I can't change, tried to change things I can and tried to understand the difference. And I must accept the results as they are, nothing more I can do. At least I finished the year in a good state of mind and that it is.
What will bring the new year I don't know, my eyes are opened to new things to come, the old gets older, it is no mystery.
My best wishes to all my friends and loved ones, and I hope to all the artist a creative year, maybe we can do something for a better world.
Las últimas fotos del año/ Last pictures of this year
These days have been very lazy in this blog because I have accumulated too much tiredness and concerns. So, today in my way home I decided to make a change in routine and climb San Cristobal hill to take the latest images of the year.
Santiago from the height is not very interesting, but from the point of view of the Virgin sanctuary is better.
West Santiago, Recoleta and Renca are less interesting from here, although the neighborhood have old buildings and chapels that worth a shooting trip.
Inside the Sanctuary chapel, today, December 31,last day of year 2008 no one inside.
Another image in the same chapel, just silence.
In this image of the Virgin I didn't avoid the sight of the antennae, they are there, no one intends to move them despite numerous requests, I, then, let them in the picture.
Otro aniversario/ Another aniversary
Since a year I have my DSLR that was part of my decision to change employment.
One of the first things I took was this fire. I almost published it, but finally another one with more fire and flames was choosen, and so I began to understand that journalistic photo is completely different, the only important thing is crudeness, nothing else, no matter the composition, point of veiw or subjectivity.

Aniversarios/ Anniversaries
A year ago we ended up the activities of our factory, several reasons led us to take this decision and one of them was my interest to return to a more creative work, back to photography, design and also change my lifestyle. The factory is now empty, I can recall that very last day, we were all going out almost hid, I can say, no one wanted to face the sadness that day. And thus, all they are gone. For a personal issue the year started bad for me, but for other reasons it ended up being very good about my plans for a lifestyle change . As I said before, the puzzle pieces begin to fit.
The title of this post says anniversaries and the second anniversary today is the arrival of my Mom from Germany 69 years ago. She didn’t arrive under the best circumstances but I believe she has made a good life. In this photo are my Grandfather Erwin Salomon, my Aunt Helga, my Mom Evamaria and my Grandmother who died in Germany due TB.

Feliz Navidad/ Merry Christmas
Now, while I was returning to my apartment I thought I didn't post about Christmas, and having no photo I stopped at this fountain.
Some couples walk around and watch the water games, the air is still warm at this time and is pleasant to be outside. People finally put aside the shopping malls, the stress, now they are at home preparing dinner or enjoying family. Children are counting the minutes to open their gifts. Others give a sense of solidarity to Christmas and are currently touring the city to accompany those who have nothing.
The streets are empty, then some people will go out to exchange gifts, me, on my car, heading to my house with my thoughts, my plans and my camera as always.
Merry Christmas to all, my family, my old friends, new friends, all those who helped me to pass this difficult year that started wrong but is running better already.
Tomorrow is another day and children will come to the streets to show their new toys.
Thanks.

Última cerámica del año/ Last pottery of the year
These are the last glazed pieces of this year. In this final series there was only one piece rejected. This little bottle is the first piece produced in the potter's wheel I made.
This small sculpture is inspired by Jane Muir's work. It has blue and white slip, a transparent glaze then fired at 1240 C.
Navidad calurosa/ Hot Christmas
Yesterday I had to walk a lot, so, I took my camera looking for some interesting images of Christmas in the near houses, but I only found this.
For us, who live in the South hemisphere, it is normal a hot Christmas, to see poor Santa overwhelmed by heat, fake snow and Christmas trees. Anyway it was nice to see a kindergarden where they created a great decoration that included these reindeers, we must not forget that children are the most important thing in this date.

Foto periodismo/ Photojournalism

Living in a country with no snow for Christmas I guess it's a good choice to use some quartz as snow, it won't melt anyway.

Noticias frescas/ Fresh news
I thought there will be no report from El Canelo today but I turned into a photojournalist of a small fire here.
More than good photos this is kind of a local newspaper.

Jueves de cerámica/ Pottery Thursday
Finally I am finishing all the pieces that were waiting for glazing, next week I hope to finish the last five.
Only two of these are new and the one at the left has been already photographed, I include it as a part of the series of vases.
This jug was thrown in the potter's wheel I made and it is rather good being the first piece with a handle I make.

Mermelada de guindas/ Cherry jam
Today I made jam with the few wild cherries that I brought from El Canelo. It is not to publish a recipe but I used to practice some food photo.
Carpintero chico/ Striped woodpecker
Today I took this photo to a striped woodpecker (Picoides lignarus) at El Canelo, it is not a very good photo but surely I will be able to take more since it seems to nest close.

Today is saturday but I upload now Thursday Pottery photos.
This is how glazes looks like before being fired in the kiln. The large bowl is glazed in black and turquoise and the vase is the one I published days ago.
