Jueves de cerámica, Abril 18, 2013/ Pottery thursday April 18, 2013

Ahora ya tengo más avanzada esta pieza, le agregué texturas, no igual ni en todos los niveles para separarlos visualmente.
Now I have more advanced this piece, I added textures, not the same at all levels and to separate them visually.

Esta es la vista desde el otro lado, la pieza no es simetrica.
This is the view from the other side, the piece is not symmetrical.

Le agregué estas figuras que es algo que ya había hecho en otra pieza del año pasado. La inspiración para estas figuras esta tomada de unas piezas textiles precolombinas de Perú.
I added these figures that is something I had done in another piece last year. The inspiration for these figures is taken from a pre-Columbian Peruvian textile pieces.

Otro detalle/ Another detail.

Me queda muy claro que esta figura en lo alto de la pieza va a tener muchas interpretaciones.
It is very clear for mi that this figure at the top of the piece will have many interpretations.

He estado un poco flojo con publicar mis avances en cerámica ahora que volví a clases así que acá me pongo al día con varias entradas.
I've been a little lazy posting about my pottery progress now that I reasume my classes, so, here is an update with multiple entries.

Estoy trabajando en esta pieza con miras a hacer una serie para una exposición que tendra nuestro taller a fin de año. Las personas que han visto esta pieza le han dado varias interpretaciones tal como la Torre de babel pero la verdad es que solo es una combinación de varias cosas que he hecho en otras piezas.
I'm working on this piece in order to make a series for an exhibition that will have our workshop at the end of the year. People who have seen this piece have given various interpretations such that it is like the Tower of Babel but the truth is that only a combination of several things I've done in other pieces.

Tuve que hacer el dibujo en el computador para poder desarrolar las plantillas de las distintas piezas, en total fué necesario cortar 20 piezas diferentes para armarlo todo.
I had to make the drawing on the computer to develop the templates for the different parts, in total it was necessary to cut 20 different pieces to assemble it all.

Cuasimodo de Colina 2013, video/ Quasimodo in Colina 2013, video


Este es un video del tercer Cuasimodo de Colina corrido el Domingo 21 de Abril de 2013 desde Quilapilún a Chacabuco, esta es la llegada a Chacabuco. La toma parte desde el carruaje del cura por lo que aparte de unos 6 jinetes que están frente al carro el video capta prácticamente a todos los jinetes que participaron.
This is a video of Quasimodo in Colina, this is the third run on Sunday, April 21, 2013 from Quilapilún to Chacabuco, this is the arrival at Chacabuco. This shoot starts the priest's carriage so apart of 6 riders who are at the front of the coach the video captures virtually all the riders who participated.

Tercer Cuasimodo en Colina 2013, rostros/ Third Quasimodo in Colina 2013, faces

 Como es costumbre una selección de algunas personas en el Cuasimodo.
As usual a selection of some people attending the Quasimodo.





Estas últimas tres personas cabalgaban juntos, en el momento de tomar estas fotos escuchaban rezar el credo. Un hombre viejo, una joven muchacha y un niño.
These last three persons rode together, when I take these pictures they were hearing the pray of the creed. An old man, a young girl and a boy.

Tercer Cuasimodo en Colina 2013, galopando/ Third Quasimodo in Colina 2013, galloping

Otra ventaja en este camino es que los jinetes tienen espacio para avanzar al galope y los cascos de los caballos no sufren tanto al correr sobre tierra.
Another good thing of this road is that the riders have room to move at a gallop and hooves do not suffer too much to runing on dirt.

Invariablemente los jinetes cargan la bandera Chilena.
Invariably riders carry the Chilean flag.

Tercer Cuasimodo de Colina 2013, Chacabuco/ Third Quasimodo in Colina 2013, Chacabuco

Este es el tercer y último Cuasimodo en Colina de este año 2013, se corre desde lugar llamado Quilapilún hasta una antigua hacienda llamada Chacabuco.
This is the third and final Hill Quasimodo in this year 2013, is run from place called Quilapilún to an old estate called Chacabuco.


Este es el carruaje que lleva al cura. La gran cosa de este último día es que corren por un camino de tierra donde no ingresan los autos entonces lograr buenas fotos es más fácil.
This is the coach where the priest rides. The great thing about this last day is that they run through a dirt road where cars do not enter then get take better photos is easier.


Estos jinetes llevan la imagen de Santa Teresita de los Andes, la primera Santa Chilena.
These riders carries the image of St. Therese of the Andes, the first Chilean Saint.



La llegada a la última misa a escuchar las palabras del cura, la mayoría de los jinetes permanecen en sus caballos y unos pocos desmontan. Luego a guardar los trajes y los ornamentos hasta el próximo año.
The arrival to the last Mass to hear the words of the priest, most riders stay on their horses and a few dismount. Then they go home to store the garments and ornaments until next year.

Segundo Cuasimodo de Colina 2013, rostros/ Second Quasimodo in Colina 2013, faces

Segundo Cuasimodo en Colina 2013/ Second Quasimodo in Colina 2013

Normalmente Cuasimodo se corre el domingo posterior a Semana Santa pero acá en Colina se corren tres domingos seguidos por distintas localidades rurales. El segundo Cuasimodo se corre desde un pequeño caserío llamado San José hasta un pueblo de artesanos en piedra llamado Las Canteras.
Quasimodo normally takes place the Sunday after Easter but here in Colina they run it three Sundays in a row by different rural localities. The second Quasimodo is run from a small village called San Jose to a stone craft village called Las Canteras which means The Quarry.

Los jinetes que encabezan la corrida llevan una cruz, la bandera Chilena y la bandera blanca y amarilla con los colores del vaticano.
The riders who leads the run takes a cross, the Chilean flag and the yellow and white flag with the colors of the Vatican.

Este es el carruaje donde se desplaza el sacerdote llevando la comunión a los enfermos y no van al trote, ellos realmente corren.
This is the carriage where the priest rides bringing the communion to the sick. They do not trot, they really run.

Muchos padres llevan a sus niños al Cuasimodo pero hay algunos niños que cabalgan solos sus propios caballos.
Many fathers take their children to Quasimodo but there are some children who ride their own horses alone.

Primer Cuasimodo en Colina 2013, rostros/ First Quasimodo in Colina 2013, faces

Dejando de lado la parte meramente religiosa la fiesta de Cuasimodo la constituyen las personas que acompañan con su fe el recorrido a través de los caminos rurales, este es un pequeño registro de rostros de estas personas.
Leaving aside the purely religious part, Quasimodo is people with their faith accompanying the tour along rural roads. This is a small record of some faces of these people.

Primer Cuasimodo en Colina 2013/ First Quasimodo in olina 2013

Como todos los años acá en Chile el domingo siguiente a semana santa se celebra el Cuasimodo donde el sacerdote católico lleva la eucaristía a los ancianos y enfermos que no pueden asistir a la iglesia. Este año el primer cuasimodo de Colina se llevó a cabo el domingo 7 de abril.
As every year here in Chile on the first Sunday after Easter is celebrated Quasimodo where the Catholic priest brings the Eucharist to the sick and elderly who can not attend church. This year the first Quasimodo in Colina took place on Sunday April 7.

Esta tradición nace en la colonia cuando el sacerdote era acompañado por los caminos rurales a que no fuera asaltado y le fueran robados los ornamentos y utensilios de la misa.
This tradition was born in the colony when the priest was accompanied along the rural roads to not be assaulted and robbed his mass ornaments and utensils.


Es también costumbre correr con grandes banderas chilenas.
It is also used to ride with big Chilean flags.

Para esto el sacerdote es acompañado de huasos a caballo ataviados de sus trajes tradicionales más una bandana y una capa corta, llamada esclavina, todo decorado con motivos religiosos.
To this the priest is accompanied by huasos riding horses wearing their traditional costumes, a bandana and a short cape called esclavina, decorated with religious motifs.

Los padres llevan a sus niños ataviados con las ropas tradicionales y se espera que cuando grandes continuen con la tradición.
Parents bring their children along dressed in traditional clothes and is expected from them to continue this tradition when they grow up.
