Today I thrown two new pieces on the potter's wheel.

Vapor vivo/ Live steam

Finally, after almost three years, with one year break, I got my Dacre locomotive running on its own steam. There is still too much to do but for a while I can sit and watch it running.

Now I need to work and the cab, side tanks and more details.

Virtually everything is done from scratch except for the pressure gauge and the gas filler valve.

The pistons are already showing signs of wear stained with lubrication oil. 2 mm bolts are made of brass.

Today, September 19, the second day of independence celebration here in Chile, I went to take pictures on a country road south of Santiago.

Since winter is ending trees are still bare but the sunniest days are restarting life cycle.

These two silos, now visibles, are hidden in the summer when they are covered in walnut leaves.

For now there is no activity around the trees, but everything will change with the first outbreaks.
In this case fruit trees are in blossom on the carefully pruned branches, spring time is arriving.

Codegua 2

Another typical image in these small villages are these restaurants that cater mostly local people.

The bar is decorated with posters, some very old, advertising beers and beverages, these ads are provided by the breweries.

Some of the tables are located in a gallery at the side of a typical patio in these old houses, decorated with Chilean flags in these days when we celebrate our independence.

Codegua 1

Codegua is another small country village located on this road south of Santiago, which was the exit route at the colonial era.

These houses, with a continued facade, have traditionally been in these villages of the central zone.

La iglesia de Codegua.

The Codegua's church.

And as I always do in these villages I went to take some photos at the parish graveyard.

For a second time I upload photos from this chapel in Chada, originally belonged to an estate, now occupied by a group of Cistercian monks.

This time I was lucky enough to take photos inside thanks to the kindness of Brother Jose who lives at the monastery next to the chapel.

The village of Chada is located south of Santiago. As shown in the image the chapel is not large but the interior is in good care.

Niños en Septiembre/ Kids in September

Those who most enjoy this date of September are the children who come to the park with their parents.

This child is wearing the traditional straw hat used by the Huaso, the Chilean countryman, for sun protection while working in the countryside.

In the park there are these amusement rides for children. Most of these games are made by the owners.

What does not detract from the children to enjoy equally.

Another typical Chilean game, which is permanently installed squares, parks and beaches of Chile is the foosball table that here is called Taca-taca.

Septiembre/ September

September is the month of independence in Chile, the 18th, and is also the beginning of spring so the streets are plenty of color and outdoor activities.

Yesterday I went to take pictures at a park where typical Chilean activities were conducted this date.

This old Lady try to play tejo, one of our traditional games.

Traditionally this date the days are sunnier so it's BBQ season, here a lamb BBQ in this case with a wood fire in Patagonia style.

Another typical character is this barrel organ player, who not only plays music along the streets in exchange for some money but also carry flags, pinwheels and small toys for sale to children. More traditional is a parrot carried in a cage which is trained to choose a card as a fortune teller.

A little late I upload this picture of the last piece that came out of the oven. I haven't glazed pieces since long time because I am preparing sets and waiting for if I can use a glaze of my own.

Domingo no tan tranquilo/ Not so easy Sunday

Finally the rain increased and became a Sunday not as quiet as it can be seen in these images.

This is one of many points in Santiago where the rain caused a flood. This image is repeated year after year.

The rain takes the usual course which has always had but now the city have them covered with pavement and houses.

The proximity of the mountains makes the water has no place to stay and immediately flows into the sea.

Domingo tranquilo/ Easy Sunday

Today I went out to take some photos to update my blog, nothing special just a few shots on the street.

Empezó todo con una lluvia suave.
It all started with a gentle rain.

Then I went to a park and took these papyrus reflected on the water.

Fortunately there are still fathers who take a walk with their children.

Finally the rain began to fall much stronger and I had to leave. One Sunday not too photographic.

Camino El Toyo/ Road to El Toyo

From the weekend I have these photos of the road between El Toyo and Pirque on the south bank of the Rio Maipo.

I have not take this road since a long time, now is in excellent condition and have very little traffic.

This is the color version of the previous photo and it is worth upload here to show the red-stained Peumos at the roadside.

The interesting thing is that red color are not leaves, are the fruits that load Peumo branches along with green sprouts.
