Cuasimodo Chacabuco 2012, el final/ The end

At this time the riders have arrived at their destination in Chacabuco, now comes the Mass, rest and share with theirfamilies. The horses will return to their work in the field and the people to their daily lives until they return to accompany the priest across the country next year.

Cuasimodo Chacabuco 2012, gente/ People

It is the faith of the runners what makes Quasimodo as it is and in this area especially as it is done for three consecutive weeks. These are just some of the faces while listening to the prayer.

Cuasimodo Chacabuco 2012, la última corrida/ The last run

Today they ran the last Quasimodo here in Colina, to the north in the area of Chacabuco. I was lucky to wait just at a point in the middle of the field where the riders stopped to pray. At this point there were no cars, no people, only the runners, the priest's voice and great faith.

Yesterday I made these clay tiles then slipped and carved  test glazes before doing the final pieces.

The idea is to make a glaze with some color but allows betray the slip and the color of the paste in order to see the design in low relief.

I also made this design divided in six tiles to use as the number for my house.

Cuasimodo Colina 2012 fotos finales/ Cuasimodo Colina 2012, final photos

I often spend a whole morning of photography that does not produce anything that I like, luckily this time I liked the outcome of the work and got many good quality photos.

This picture, while technically is not perfect, at least it shows that all what Quasimodo means, a rider wearing his huaso outfit also the accesories indicating his profession of faith, the Chilean flag that always accompanies this event and the horse gallop which means he is running the Quasimodo.

Finally I repeat this picture that made me happy from the standpoint of the resulting image and the expression of joy of this child that goes beyond the lens, Through  the Looking Glass....

Cuasimodo Colina 2012, la fiesta/ Cuasimodo Colina 2012, the feast

The feast of Quasimodo is celebrated in Chile on Sunday after Easter. At least once a year Catholics must receive communion, and, on the day of Quasimodo, the priest goes through the fields in a carriage delivering the sacrament. It was tradition in the field to accompany the priest's carriage to prevent the bandits from stealing the chalice and vestments of the mass. Today that tradition continues throughout Chile and is repeated in cities and towns, particularly in Colina this event is takes place over three Sundays to reach all sectors.

Each asociation has its own standard.

Dressed with the traditional huaso costume riders have a short cape and on the head a scarf embroidered with religious themes.
