Estación Central 1/ Central Station1

Como todos los años el último domingo de Mayo se celebra en Chile el día del patrimonio nacional donde se abren edificios públicos para recibir visitantes.
As every year the last Sunday of May is celebrated the National Patrimony Day in Chile, where public buildings are open for visitors.

Este año fuí a la Estación Central de ferrocarriles. Este edificio data de 1897 y está ubicado en la Avenida Bernardo O'Higgins, la principal de Santiago.
This year I went to Central Railway Station. This building dates from 1897 and it is located in the Avenida Bernardo O'Higgins, the main street of Santiago.

Muy a pesar de llamarse Estación Central solo salen trenes destinado al sur ya que los trenes al norte usaban otra estación. Esta es el actual anden, una estructura de acero que debe haberse visto increible con el humo de las máquinas de vapor.
In spite of being called Central Station just south services departures from here, the northbound trains used another station. This is the actual platform under this steel structure that must have been amazing with the smoke of steam engines.

Desgraciadamente queda muy poco servicio de ferrocarriles en Chile, debido a una mala administración, mal mantenimiento y gran competencia de otros medios de transporte, de ahí los andenes vacíos.
Unfortunately there is very little railway service in Chile, due to mismanagement, poor maintenance and strong competition from other modes of transport, hence the empty platform.

Esta imagen que fué comun para muchos Chilenos ahora es desconocida para la mayoría, el inicio de las vias, los cables aereos, las señales, en realidad el inicio de un viaje más romántico que ya nadie realiza.
This image was common for many Chileans now is unknown to most, the beginning of the tracks, overhead wires, signs, actually the start of a romantic journey that no one does.

A los costados está ubicada esta galería comercial donde yo recuerdo era más un mercado donde se vendian provisiones, vegetales, comida, aves, etc. Ahora es una galeria de comercio como cualquier otra.
At side of the .main building this shopping mall is located as I recall it was a market where supplies were sold, vegetables, food, poultry, etc. Now is a gallery of commerce like any other one.
