Mi colegio nuevamente/ My school again

Ayer noche estuve nuevamente en mi colegio, en una fiesta y nuevamente me dejó pensando. Conversando ayer hoy me doy cuenta que recién estoy conociendo a gente muy distinta en quienes fueron mis compañeros, claro, hemos pasado por muchas cosas para llegar a quienes somos hoy pero las conversaciones tienen mucho de quienes fuimos en aquellos años y yo no los imaginaba así. La foto de hoy es una panorámica del interior de una sala y ahora pensaba que gran parte de quien soy partió en aquellos años, pero no dentro de las salas de clases si no que en los patios, en el parque, ayudando a hacer escenografias en el aula magna, dibujando en los recreos, etc. Definitivamente estas reuniones me dejan pensando pero al menos cuando nos reunimos terminamos bailando la música de aquellos años y eso es muy entretenido. No se olviden que al hacer click en la foto se abre más grande. Last night I was back in my school, at a party, and got me thinking again. Jueves de cerámica, 2011/ Pottery Thursday, 2011

Comenzaron mis clases de cerámica así que también recomienza el posteo de los jueves de cerámica. I started pottery classes therefore also restarted posting on Pottery Thursday.

Estas piezas fueron retorneadas hoy, 4 fuentes de unos 16 centímetros, 600 gramos de pasta cada una. These pieces were trim today, 4 bowls of about 16 centimeters, 600 grams clay each.

Más cosas técnicas/ Technical stuff again

Nada creativo que agregar, solo he trabajado en el mecanismo para los rodillos con un motor reciclado y un engranaje de una antigua impresora. Nothing creative to add, I've only worked on the mechanism for the rollers with a recycled motor and a gear from an old printer.

Al contrario la polea doble de bronce si fué torneada para este proyecto. On the contrary the double pulley is new and it was turned in brass for this project.

Algunos recuerdos/ Some memories

Encontré este delantal ordenando mis cosas para la mudanza. Este bordado está lleno de cálidos recuerdos, es el delantal que usaba en octavo grado en el colegio. A pesar de que le costaba fué bordado por mi mamá, al ver lo vacilante de la puntada es muy dificil imaginarse que ella hizo de los hilos y las telas la forma de ganarse la vida. Día a día me topo con estos pequeños detalles que me traen recuerdos de todos estos años de vida con mi mamá. Por un lado son lindos recuerdos por otro tristes ya que no está. Algo de trabajo mecánico/ Some mechanical work

Hoy tuve que tomar varias decisiones con respecto a los rodillos para mi autómata. Lo primero fué cambiar las poleas de bronce que estaba haciendo por poleas de madera. Lo segundo fué mantener los bujes de bronce y hacer soportes de madera que puedan ir montados con tornillos. Today I had to make several decisions with respect to the rollers for my automata. The first thing was to change the brass pulleys I was making to wooden pulleys. The second thing was to keep the bronze bushings and make wooden blocks so they can be mounted with screws.

Hoy después de muchos años fuí a mi colegio y por primera vez llevé una cámara.

Hace un mes atrás, o algo así, descubrí esta librería de libros usados, se llama Librería Comuna Literaria. Está ubicada en la calle Santa Isabel 0151 acá en Santiago. Tienen un gran surtido de libros de variados temas y una página web: Comuna Literaria.
A month ago or so, I found this nice bookstore, called Literary Community, they sell second hand books. It is located on Calle Santa Isabel 0151 here in Santiago. They have a large selection of books on various topics and a website: Literary Community.

El libro que me compré es "En la Carretera" de Jack Keruoac. Puede sonar bastante extemporaneo leerlo hoy en día pero hace mucho tiempo que tenía ganas de tenerlo y más curioso aún es esperar a cambiarme a mi nueva casa para empezar a leerlo. Y seguramente al leerlo en esa nueva casa surgirán algunos comentarios.
I bought the book "On the Road" by Jack Keruoac. It may sound quite out of time to read it today, but since long time I wanted to have it and even more curious is that I'm waiting to move to my new home to start reading. And surely there will come some comments when I read it.

Hoy retomé el trabajo en este autómata. Ahora tengo que construir la caja de soporte donde estará localizado el motor y los rodillos que transmiten el movimiento a las ruedas del camión.

Pila Bautismal/ Baptismal Font

He estado haciendo un foto reportaje para mi profesor de cerámica, Francisco Olivares. El está haciendo un encargo de figuras en relieve para una pila bautismal.

La pila está en el interior de esta iglesia ubicada en el barrio de Renca acá en Santiago.
The font is located inside this church in the Renca district here in Santiago.

Las figuras están ubicadas en los vertices de la pila que no es la tradicional si no que es para inmersión.
The figures are located at the edges of this cross which is not a traditional font but it is an inmersion font.

Realizar las figuras, entre el diseño, modelado, moldes esmalte y quema le tomó dos meses. El trabajo de instalación es muy delicado y requiere de bastante precisión para que todo quede nivelado.

La arquitectura de la iglesia es muy interesante ya que es un octógono donde la asamblea rodea el altar.

No he tenido mucho tiempo para trabajar en mi autómata así que ni ha habido mucho avance. Al menos el cazador ya está sentado al volante con sus binoculares.

Cazador de Tormentas/ Storm Chaser driver

Como siempre se me hace un tanto difícil trabajar la figura humana aunque en este caso apliqué la teoría de avanzar y avanzar y está resultando bastante bien.

Hoy al menos avancé un paso más y agregué este sol naciente hecho de bronce y va a quedar tal como está, con el óxido y marcas de las herramientas.

Atorado/ Stuck

Definitivamente estoy atorado con el cazador de tormentas, si bien tengo el mecanismo funcionando y varios ejes de movimiento aún no tengo definido que cosas se van a mover. He pensado en una esfera con las fases de la luna.

Trabajando en la carrocería/ Working in the truck body

Hoy tuve tiempo de volver a trabajar en el Cazador de Tormentas así que estoy terminando la carrocería del camíón.

Un detalle que faltaba y que le da más volumen al camión eran los tapabarros.

Pareciera que este detalle es innecesario pero el resorte se atoraba en la lata del techo.
