Primera quema de Raku/ First Raku firing

Ayer jueves realizamos la primera quema para probar el horno de Raku que construimos en el taller de cerámica. Nuestro profesor, Francisco Olivares, controlando el flujo de gas.
Yesterday Thursday we conducted a first firing to test the Raku kiln that we built in our pottery workshop. Our teacher, Francisco Olivares, controlling the flow of gas.

Es un horno de gas que se armó reciclando ladrillos aislantes de un horno eléctrico. Solo se quemaron dos piezas ya que la prueba consistía en saber cuanto tiempo se necesitaba para llegar a 1000 grados celsius.
Only two pieces were fired because the test was to determine how much time is needed to reach 1000 degrees celsius. It works with gas and it was put together by recycling insulation bricks from an old electric kiln.

En esta primera prueba se demoró aproximadamente dos horas en llegar a la temperatura requerida.
In this first test it took about two hours to reach the required temperature.

Este tiempo se podría reducir ahora que se eliminó la humedad de los ladrillos, aumentando el flujo de gas y aplicando aislante a la tapa.
This time could be reduced now that the humidity has been removed from the bricks, increasing the flow of gas and applying insulation to the lid.

Las pruebas se depositaron en un recipiente con pasto para que se quema para liberar carbón que se combina con el esmalte de la pieza.
The tests were placed in a container with grass which is burned to release carbon that combines with the glaze of the piece.
