Templo Votivo de Maipú/ Votive Temple of Maipu

El día 16 de Julio se celebra a la Virgen del Carmen, proclamada en Chile Patrona y Generala de las Armas Chilenas. Por esta razón fuí a tomar fotos a este templo dedicado a ella.
On the July, 16th celebrates the Lady of Mount Carmel, proclaimed in Chile Patron Saint and General of the Chilean Weapons. For this reason I went to take pictures of this temple dedicated to her.

El templo se comenzó a construir en 1948 y recién se terminó en 1974, el diseño es del arquitecto chileno de origen español Juan Martinez Gutierrez.
The temple construction began in 1948 and was completed recently in 1974. It was designed by the Chilean architect Juan Martinez Gutierrez.

Bernardo O´Higgins, gestor de la independencia de Chile, fué quien ofreció este templo en el mismo lugar donde se libró la batalla final que logró obtener nuestra independencia.
Bernardo O'Higgins, General of the independence of Chile, offered this temple in the same place where the final battle to obtain our independence was fought.

La imagen de la Virgen del Carmen está colocada en un altar al fondo del templo.
The image of the Lady of Mount Carmel is placed on an altar at the end of the temple.

Este altar con vista a la boveda tiene a su vez un pasillo por el cual los fieles pueden desfilar en frente de la imagen.
This altar is overlooking the vault but it also have a corridor through which the faithful can parade in front of the image.
